God’s Complete Salvation

God’s salvation and the three parts of man

Man was created with three parts—spirit, soul, and body (1 Thes. 5:23). The fall damaged all three parts of man: man’s spirit became deadened (Eph. 2:1), his soul, corrupted (Gen. 6:5), and his body, the flesh of sin and death (Gen. 6:3; Rom. 6:6; 7:24). In such a pitiful and ruined condition, man is utterly helpless to save himself and devoid of any hope of expressing God.

Result of the Fall

But when the kindness and the love to man of our Savior God appeared, not out of works in righteousness which we did but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, in order that having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:4-7)

Through the processes of regeneration, transformation, and glorification, and by His life, God is able to save every part of our being—spirit, soul, and body. In each step of the process, God saves us by dispensing His rich life into us. What a wonderful Savior God is, and what a complete salvation He has for us!
